Our current Featured Project is a complex, multi-dimensional design intended to take an 80’s style brick contemporary and transform it into a “timeless” home. One of our design goals was to strive for the warmth of cedar and look of natural components without the associated maintenance, utilizing the latest 21st Century
technology available.

The west-facing location on Orchard Lake regularly subjects this home to inclement weather with predominant wind-driven rain often reaching 60+ mph. Such conditions call for plans to use special products, including specialized installation techniques, that will withstand this abuse for years to come. A closer look will reveal what customers of ours already know.

As a showcase of 21st Century materials we make available, this Featured Project demonstrates that you can have a maintenance-free exterior that can never rot, peel, blister, or warp, and still have the natural look of wood that gives a home timeless charm and beauty. The improved property value hasn’t hurt either!

1 Dodecagon (12-sided) turret with a free-standing, 12-sided, 12/12 pitch roof and 16" overhang
2 Triple-pane Pella Architectural casement windows and swing door, all with internal blinds, low-E and argon gas
3 Double-pane Andersen casement windows and swing door with factory pre-finished white interior and low-E glass
4 16” raised double-panel polystyrene injection-molded columns and raised-panel newell posts
5 Pre-cast and pre-finished composite railings, matched to design and character of raised-panel columns
6 Custom arc-bent composite top and bottom rail matching radius design of cantilevered second floor deck
7 Interlocking, weatherproof decking on second level, with dual swing door access, from study and master
8 24” x 24” field and 36” perimeter bluestone decking on lower level, including radius
9 Tyvek brand weatherization homewrap over polystyrene foam insulation panels, triple-flashed at critical junctures
10 Pre-stained James Hardie fiber-cement shingle siding featuring Boston Weave outside corners
11 Pre-stained fir beaded porch panels for all ceilings: Semi-transparent stain upper deck, solid-coat stain lower deck
12 Pre-stained tongue & groove cedar soffits with continuous soffit intake venting to balance ridge venting exhaust
13 5/4” PVC-composite trim fascia, frieze, and beam boards including custom arc-bent bandboards
14 Low-pitch roof trusses removed in favor of a steeper roof truss system for better weather protection & curb appeal
15 Architecturally-significant dimensional Integrity Roofing System with a 50-year warranty and a 110 MPH wind-resistance warranty
16 Master bedroom turret ceiling has a free-standing, 12-sided, 12/12 pitch design with interior Xenon valence lighting
17 Raised 7’ tall garage door to 8’ wood raised-panel, with new steel header
18 Interior and exterior recessed ceiling lighting, accent soffit down-lighting, accent in-ground uplighting, and in-step sidewalk lighting
